The Wallace Monument

A striking 67-meter (220-foot) Victorian Gothic tower perched atop Abbey Craig near Stirling, Scotland. Completed in 1869, it commemorates Sir William Wallace, the legendary 13th-century Scottish patriot who led resistance against English rule. Visitors climb 246 steps to reach the crown’s viewing platform, which offers sweeping views of the Ochil Hills and Forth Valley. Inside, the monument houses exhibits on Wallace’s life—including the famed Wallace Sword—and celebrates Scotland’s national identity.
